Possible Severe Thunderstorms to Roll Through Oxford Today

Published

on

NWS april 11April showers bring May flowers, except today’s showers will be thunderstorms across Oxford.

According to the National Weather Service, there is an 80 percent chance of thunderstorms to begin after 1 p.m. today and throughout the night. A possible thunderstorm is expected to bring showers past midnight and on into Tuesday morning.

“Severe weather is possible today in the Mid-South. Hail and damaging winds are the main threats,” the National Weather Service posted on Facebook.

The string of thunderstorms is the result of a large amount of rainfall pushing across Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi to the New England states.

The rest of the week will be mostly cloudy with a 20 to 30 percent of rainfall on Wednesday and Thursday. However, the weekend is looking like it will be clear and sunny as the rain moves out. The high temperatures for the week will range in the high 60s and low 70s, and the lows will range between high 40s and low 50s during nightfall.
