South Lamar Court Development to Include 93-Room HOME2 Suites by Hilton Hotel
Good news for Ole Miss football fans – actually, it’s good news for all of Oxford – a new development project has broken ground on the south side of town near the new Baptist Hospital and will feature a new 93-room Hilton branded hotel.
Developer Luke Chamblee – the same guy responsible for the beautiful hotel on the Oxford Square, The Graduate – is heading the new project and is hopeful that his tentative opening date of spring 2017 is met – just in time for Double Decker and Graduation.
When HottyToddy.com reached out to Chamblee this morning and asked if he might consider bumping up the opening date for the new hotel in order to accommodate the upcoming 2016 season, he laughed, “No, no, no… it won’t be ready for the 2016 football season, that’s for sure.”
HOME2 Suite hotels are a product of the Hilton hotel empire and will be loaded with all of the latest interior designs, technology and amenities that today’s customers desire.
Chamblee explained; “My family couldn’t be more excited about adding our second hotel to the Oxford market. Oxford is obviously an appreciating market and we felt that this particular Hilton brand in this location was the perfect fit. The property will have 93 suites, fitness facility, pool, meeting space and plenty of common space for guests to interact with one another. Hilton has done a great job with this brand with space efficiency, creating energy and interaction while providing the guests the necessary amenities they expect in today’s world.”
Additionally, local and out-of-town shoppers will be happy to hear that a 30,000-foot retail space will be built immediately in front of the new hotel.
“Within the next few weeks we’ll be officially presenting Phase II of our South Lamar Court development which will consist of 30,000 square feet of retail, office and medical office space which should complement the Hilton hotel, new Baptist Hospital along with everything going on at Callicut Farms,” Chamblee said. “We are excited with some of the new businesses that will be coming to Oxford and South Lamar Court. There is a very high demand for retail, office, and restaurants in this area and we feel like South Lamar Court is the perfect location being at the corner of Belk Boulevard and South Lamar in the middle of the medical district and future growth of Oxford.”
