Randall Haley, writer and social media editor with HottyToddy.com and her award received at that annual state PRAM luncheon.
HottyToddy.com’s own Writer/Social Media Editor Randall Haley, a December 2015 graduate of the Meek School of Journalism and New Media, received an award today at the PRAM (Public Relations Association of Mississippi) Annual Professional Excellence luncheon at the Hilton in Jackson. She was among 12 UM students receiving awards for their work.
Haley was recognized for her campaign “Read to Succeed,” which focused on the importance of literacy by recognizing that a love and desire for knowledge begins with parents reading to their children. The 80-page campaign targeted parents in Lafayette County and was created to raise awareness about the importance of parents’ roles in their children’s lives regarding literacy.
“Reading to a child from an early age enhances their social skills, their ability to form their own opinions, and they tend to have a more successful, positive livelihood. The majority of states with the highest poverty rates also had the highest illiteracy rates,” Haley said. “The more parents read to their children, and the more children read for themselves, the more educated decisions they will make as adults.
HottyToddy.com will summarize the awards received by all of the UM students in an upcoming article.
