Happy Tuesday Oxford! Today’s forecast includes sun, sun and more sun!
In Oxford, the radar is clear and gives us a high of 82 and a low of 52 for the day. There is a 40 to 50 percent chance of a thunderstorm tonight, but, nonetheless, sunshine is expected again for tomorrow.
After a week of rain, thunderstorms and drastic flooding in some parts of Mississippi, especially the Mississippi Delta, sandbags are still needed. Although, the rain has stopped, the flooding has not.
River stages are rising and homes, churches and businesses are still going under water due to over flowing rivers such as the Mississippi River and the Pearl River and other bodies of water. Currently, the Pearl River, in central Mississippi and most of concern, is flooding. The river stage is at 33.22 feet, and expected to rise to 34 feet tomorrow. The flood stage for the Pearl River is 28 feet.
Mississippi River Stages:
Greenville: 46.44 feet (flooding stage is at 48 feet)
Vicksburg: 42.85 feet (flooding stage is at 43 feet)
Natchez: 49.94 feet (flooding stage is at 48 feet)
Memphis: 25 feet (flooding stage is at 35 feet)
