A Panola County native suspected in another homicide in Louisiana has been indicted in the Dec. 2014 burning death of Jessica Chambers, a teenager from Courtland, Mississippi.

Quinton Tellis, 27, originally of Courtland, was indicted on capital murder charges by a special grand jury in Panola County. Today, he sits in the Quachita Parish Jail in Monroe, Louisiana, where he is being held on charges connected to the August 2015 death of a University of Louisiana Monroe exchange student. Tellis is not charged with the Louisiana student’s death, but he is charged with three counts of unauthorized use of an access card and one count of possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.

Tellis is believed to have been the last person to have been with Chambers on the night she was killed in Courtland, and the two allegedly were in a relationship in the weeks leading up to her mysterious death.

According to MDOC records, Tellis has been in and out of jail throughout the past few years. In January 2010, Tellis was sentenced to five years in jail for residential burglary and five years probation for fleeing from law enforcement. Tellis was released in August 2010, and the probation was revoked. In 2011, Tellis was sentenced again for residential burglary. In 2012, Tellis received three years in jail and five years probation, yet again, for residential burglary and released on probation in October 2014.

With Tellis’ arrest, there have been a total of 18 arrests made throughout the investigation Chambers’ murder case. On Dec. 15, 2015, there were 17 suspects arrested on indirect charges.

A special press conference is planned to be held in Panola County on Wed., Feb. 24, at 10: 30 a.m.
