If you love the 4 Big S’s: spaghetti, soup, super heroes and silliness; the screening of “Spaghettiman” at the 2016 Oxford Film Festival was definitely up your alley.

The first showing of the film played from 8-10 p.m. on Friday night at the Oxford Conference Center across the street from the central hub of the festival (Malco Oxford Commons Cinema) and at exactly the same time as the Round Table on the Oxford Square hosted the Music Video block of films (not to mention a Tate Moore concert); so chances are pretty good that you may have missed the initial screening.

Our advice; find a link to the film and check it out. Heck, even the trailer at the top of this post cracks me up (and I saw the whole movie). It goes without saying that anytime you can pack spaghetti, a semi-stoner super hero, martial arts and endless soup into a film format; you have the stuff legends like Pulp Fiction or Little Shop of Horrors are made of.

Trust me on this: These guys are funny – genuinely funny – and not just when they’re in front of a rolling camera. Check out the embedded video (above) as the cast and crew discuss the making of “Spaghettiman.” This might just give you a glimpse into the warped minds (used here as a term of endearment) that could muster up such a fun concoction. And, according to the guys… “Spaghettiman II” is not out of the realm of possibility.

In fact, the film’s reputation and absurdity spread so quickly after its initial screening, a second showing was added to the already packed-for-content festival.

Kudos to Oxford Film Festival’s executive director, Melanie Addington, for this awesome addition to this year’s arsenal.
