Vassallo: Ole Miss Recruiting Class Exceptional
Coach Freeze and his staff have done it again as they reeled in their fourth consecutive top 15 recruiting class.
The 2016 edition may be the best of all as various national services have scored it fourth, fifth and sixth. All in all, the excitement yesterday was unparalleled in Ole Miss recruiting history.
The excitement was more than justified as the class features three five-star players and 12 four-stars in the mix. Eight states are represented with one-fourth of the class from here in Mississippi. Thirteen high-school All-Americans are among the 24 signed. The majority signed (17) are offensive players.
Now for the analysis. Even though the rankings are very high, they should be even higher. A class that features the top signal caller in the nation supported by probably the best group of offensive linemen anywhere is superb. Backed up by two running backs and a host of star receivers, the offensive firepower could rival a nuclear arsenal.
Wednesday showcased star after star being announced in the Oxford Conference Center as a sold out audience witnessed history being made. (Following are two of the major services’ SEC rankings.)
In conclusion, what the staff has accomplished highlights truly a national effort with the end result being one that will keep Ole Miss competitive at the highest level for years to come. Classes like this are rare and will keep Reb fans smiling all the way up to the next New Year’s Six Bowl. Congratulations to everyone involved, you earned it and deserve it!
