Sixth Annual Fiber Arts Festival Launched Thursday at the Powerhouse
Knit1 Oxford and YAC launched its 6th annual Fiber Arts Festival at the Powerhouse via an opening reception on Thursday evening at 5:30. Festivities and workshops for registered attendees will continue through Saturday, Jan. 30.
The popular festival, which has experienced an attendance increase in each of the years of its operation, is an annual event that celebrates the independent fiber artists who keep many time-honored handcrafts alive.
According to the YAC website (OxfordArts.com) the festival has become one of the Oxford’s major winter events and it regularly draws vendors and attendees from across the region. It is a family-friendly festival with a significant education component that includes children’s arts classes and over 24 workshops.
The artists hand spin and dye a wide variety of yarns; including alpaca, many varieties of wool, silk, bamboo and mohair, to name a few. Most of the goods are handmade by the artists who engage in a variety of crafts including spinning, weaving, knitting, crochet and basket weaving.
For inquires concerning the festival, its scheduling and other details, those interested should call Knit1 Oxford at 662.238.2829 or visit the YAC website.
