73 Ole Miss Student-Athletes Named To SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll

Football and women’s soccer both enjoyed historic seasons, men’s cross country competed in the NCAA Championships and volleyball set numerous records on the court. The success carried over to the classroom, as 73 Ole Miss student-athletes were named to the Southeastern Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll announced Wednesday by SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey.

A total of 1,002 student-athletes were named to the 2015 Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll, which is based on grades from the 2015 Spring, Summer and Fall terms.

On the gridiron, the Rebels produced a hallmark season, shattering records and winning the Magnolia Bowl, Egg Bowl and Sugar Bowl on the way to the team’s first 10-win season since 2003. Off the field, 25 players earned SEC Academic Honor Roll mention, including record-setting quarterback Chad Kelly, who capped a memorable first season with the Rebels by earning MVP honors at the Sugar Bowl.

Soccer advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 for the first time in school history and achieved their highest-ever final ranking at No. 16. All eligible players (21) made the SEC Academic Honor Roll, achieving this feat for the second year in a row. The list includes CoSIDA Academic All-Americans Addie Forbus and Jessica Hiskey.

While volleyball continued its upward trend, five players made the honor roll, including CoSIDA Academic All-American Aubrey Edie.

The men’s and women’s cross country teams combined to place 22 on the list. The men finished third in the SEC and earned their second consecutive NCAA trip, while the women matched their second-highest SEC finish (fifth) in program history, led by two-time SEC Academic Honor Roll member Mary Alex England.
