Ole Miss Hosts Auburn on the Hardwood Tonight
This evening, the Ole Miss Rebels return to the hardwood to face the Auburn Tigers inside the Pavilion at Ole Miss. The tip off is set for 6 p.m. and SEC Network will air the game.
Ole Miss (12-7, 2-5 SEC) comes into the game after a heartbreaking loss to in-state rival Mississippi State in Starkville. Senior Anthony Perez recorded his first career double-double against the Bulldogs with 14 points and pulling in 10 boards.
Stefan Moody joined the 1000 point club against the South Carolina Gamecocks has he scored 24 points in the game.
Auburn enters the game 9-9 overall and 3-4 in the SEC after falling 95-63 at Florida Saturday. Auburn had won two league games in a row at home (Kentucky and Alabama) before the set back to the Gators. The Tigers are 7-2 at home this season, including a 3-1 mark in SEC play, but are just 1-6 overall and 0-3 in conference away from The Plains. Auburn has four players scoring in double figures this year led by junior guard Kareem Canty at 18.9 ppg, while Providence transfer Tyler Harris is second on the squad at 15.2 ppg.
Senior Cimeon Bowers is pulling down a team-best 9.4 rebounds a game, which ranks third in the league. Auburn ranks dead last in the SEC with scoring defense allowing 78.2 ppg and being out-rebound by opponents by 3.6 rebounds a game, which is also last in the league.
Tonight’s contest will be 130th meeting between the two schools. The Tigers hold an all-time series lead of 73-56, but Ole Miss has won nine of the last 11 meetings including the last six. The Rebels knocked off Auburn 83-79 on The Plains season and swept the Tigers in a home-and-home series in 2013.
Prior to the game the baseball team will be signing autographs for fans before the start of the season on February 19.
