Jimbo Mathus and Them Dirty Crooks Rock The Valley and Yalobusha Brewing Co.

Last Friday night at 6 p.m., Jimbo Mathus and Them Dirty Crooks took the stage at Yalobusha Brewing Company in Water Valley and launched our North Mississippi weekend in a big way.

The program at the brewery began on Jan. 8 and is appropriately titled Brewing Tours Tasting and Tunes. The event – one that will undoubtedly become a Friday evening staple in these parts – lived up to its name throughout the evening by offering tours of the facility, several different brands of Yalo Brew and smooth covers and originals by Mathus and band.

Although, there is no cover for the music portion of the program, tours of the facility require a very reasonable $10 fee, which includes 36 ounces of Yalobusha brew in six-ounce servings (or tastings). Add in a surplus of Hill Country rock ‘n’ roll and you have a respectable night out in Water Valley’s booming downtown district in Yalobusha County, one that won’t break the bank at 10 bucks.

Brewery owner Andy O’Bryan plans to keep the accelerator down on the program as he searches for affluent bands in our area to entertain at the new combo music hall/brewery. Familiar names are already being tossed around, other local favorites like Cary Hudson of Blue Mountain fame, and Grassfire a Memphis progressive bluegrass/country/rock ensemble that has been jamming in residency at the Rafters on the Oxford Square every Sunday morning.

These and other bands will undoubtedly be taking stage at Yalobusha Brewery in the near future, and rest assured, HottyToddy.com will keep you current on its listings (not to mention its plethora of beer choices).

In the meantime, mark your calendars for Friday night at 6 p.m. for Yalobusha Brewing Company’s Brewing Tours Tasting and Tunes.
