Bomb Threat: South Panola High School Evacuated This Morning

South Panola High School in Batesville, Mississippi, was evacuated due to a bomb threat this morning, according to the South Panola School District.

After students, faculty and staff were evacuated, law enforcement did a “sweep” of the building. The district reported no evidence that would “constitute as a threat.”

The district first posted the following message on its Facebook page:

“South Panola High School has been evacuated due to a bomb threat. All SPHS students, faculty and staff are safe and away from the building. Law enforcement officials are in the process of “sweeping” the SPHS building/campus. Once officials finish their sweep, classes will resume as normal. No SPHS student is allowed to check out or leave at this time. Tiger Drive is currently closed from the exit of BJHS campus to Keating Road.”

Upon completion of the bomb search, the district updated concerned parents on the same post:

“Update- 12:45 p.m.: Emergency officials have completed their sweep of SPHS and have found no evidence that would constitute as a threat. Students, faculty and staff are returning to campus to resume their day. Thank you all for your cooperation and patience with this matter.”
