Marvelous Monday Art Camp Set for January 18 at Powerhouse
Some folks get a well-deserved day off on Monday, January 18 for Martin Luther King Day. Others – well, we aren’t quite that lucky.
One absolute given is that our hard working teachers and students will most definitely enjoy the day off and will have some time on their hands.
For the younger kids, how to fill that time just got easier.
YAC will be holding its Marvelous Monday Art Camp from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and will cater to area kids from 3 through 10-years of age. Parents can chose between block session; either 9 a.m.- noon or 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
The half-day price for attendance is $25, with the full day price set at $40.
“The art camp will take place at the Powerhouse and the focus of the artwork will be on African and African-American artists,” camp instructor Andi Bedsworth said. “Students will also be constructing African masks and will study and duplicate the style of Clementine Hunter as well as other notable African artists.”
The day camp will feature a plethora of arts and crafts projects with an afternoon movie for children who attend for the full day. Full day students are encouraged to bring their own lunch, however, snacks will be provided.
