After an impressive game against Oklahoma State in the Allstate Sugar Bowl, which Ole Miss won, Laquon Treadwell spent time signing autographs and taking pictures with his Rebel fans until 2 a.m.

According to Valerie Calhoun, a reporter for FOX 13 Memphis, Treadwell was the last football player to leave the field. Calhoun posted about Treadwell on her public Facebook page:

“Laquon Treadwell. Remember that name. The Ole Miss wide receiver is being touted as the No. 1 wide receiver picked in the draft (NFL). Here’s what you should know about this young man: after the Sugar Bowl last weekend (Jan. 1), he was the ONLY player who stayed out signing autographs until EVERY child was served.”

Calhoun reports that she knows first hand about Treadwell’s act of kindness because she was there with her son.

“It was around 2 a.m. when he finally called it a night. I know. I was there with my son and some friend’s sons. All of the Ole Miss players were gracious to the young, and older, fans. But Laquon? He went above and beyond. I was there when one of the coaches tried to “rescue” him. He said, ‘No, I’m good,’ and he was- until 2 a.m. I’m impressed.”

After the Sugar Bowl, Treadwell announced that he was declaring for the NFL draft and would not return for his senior year at Ole Miss. In a statement released he said, “I will always be an Ole Miss Rebel. God bless.”

I wish Laquon lots of luck. I hope that he will come back and get his degree at some point.
