Stellar Financial Services With An Oxford Twist: Geary Correro Wealth Management Group

Bill Geary 2

Bill Geary is managing director and senior vice president, investments, for Raymond James & Associates. His practice is based in Jackson, but has a growing Oxford presence.

He has a number of clients in Oxford and hopes to continue to grow that business. They have opened a new location where he can meet clients from the area. Kevin Moore, a financial advisor based in Grenada, also has a very significant Oxford practice and also works out of that office when in Oxford.

Ole Miss and Oxford Background

Geary’s ties to the Oxford area and Ole Miss go back even further than just an office in the area. He and his wife Kathleen are Ole Miss Graduates and one of their children, Campbell Geary, is currently a freshman at the University.

“I’m a 1982 graduate of Ole Miss,” he said, “and Campbell is our third child to attend Ole Miss. My father, Jack, was a 1952 graduate, is in the Alumni Hall of Fame, was one of the early presidents of the University of Mississippi Foundation and has served as president of the Alumni Association. So our family’s involvement with Ole Miss goes back a long way.”

According to former Ole Miss Chancellor, Robert Khayat, Jack Geary is an Ole Miss role model.

“From the moment Jack Geary arrived on campus at Ole Miss he became emotionally invested in the school and that commitment has lasted for more than 50 years. He was a wonderful student and has been a consistent supporter of the University as an alumnus,” Khayat said. “Serving in a variety of leadership positions and on too many committees to count, Jack, Shirley and their children and grandchildren have made significant investments of their time and resources to Ole Miss. When we think about an Ole Miss role model, Jack Geary is among those who steadily remains at or near the top of the list. Ole Miss is grateful for Jack and his family for all they have done for The University of Mississippi.”

Whether it is his family’s legacy or the charm of Oxford and Ole Miss- perhaps both-it is always nice to have a business operated by an Ole Miss graduate brought to Oxford.

Geary Correro Wealth Management

Geary has a business partner and together, they are committed to helping their clients develop the best financial plans and investments.

“I have a partner, Chris Correro, and together with Sha Pollard and Lisa Wilson we manage our practice as the Geary Correro Wealth Management Group of Raymond James,” Geary said. “We work with individuals, their businesses and foundations. Most of our clients come to us to develop long term financial plans and to build investment portfolios that meet those plans. We seem to attract clients who are successful professionals or entrepreneurs who have sold a business or have retirement plan assets in their business to manage. Many of our clients are in retirement or planning for retirement and looking to manage their assets so they have a sound income strategy. Our goal is for clients to have high-quality, highly-liquid investments with low expenses and to feel confident in the strategy for their investments. Often we work with the client’s CPA and attorneys so that the approach is coordinated with all of their advisors.”

Geary is registered with Raymond James and Associates (RJA), a subsidiary of Raymond James Financial (NYSE_RJF). Through its three broker/dealer subsidiaries, Raymond James Financial has financial advisors throughout the United States, Canada and overseas with total client assets of approximately $480 billion.

“Raymond James is a full-service investment firm,” Geary said. “It’s headquartered in St. Petersburg, Fla., was founded in 1962 and has been a public company since 1983. The unique thing about Raymond James in our industry is that its principle business is the Private Client Group – that is the wealth management unit. While we have substantial investment banking and asset management divisions, the firm has always focused on providing advice to individuals and small businesses.”

Successful in Mississippi

Geary said his Raymond James branch office has had a long and successful presence in Mississippi. The office in Jackson, which he joined in 1990, was opened as a Morgan Keegan branch office in 1976. Geary served as Executive Managing Director of Morgan Keegan from 2006 until the firm was acquired by Raymond James in 2012. The Mississippi complex for RJA currently has 40 advisors across the state.

In addition to the assets these advisors manage, Raymond James is one of the largest underwriters of public finance bonds in Mississippi, including serving as underwriter of the recent $58 million University of Mississippi bond issue.

Raymond James has been recognized nationally for its community support and corporate philanthropy. The company has been ranked as one of the best in the country in customer service, as a great place to work and as a national leader in support of the arts.
