Ole Miss Basketball Hosts Georgia State Wednesday
The Ole Miss men’s basketball team returns home to the Tad Smith Coliseum on Wednesday afternoon as they play host to Georgia State. Tip-off is slated for 4 p.m. and SEC Network will show the game.
Ole Miss enters the game with a 3-2 overall record on the season. The Rebels posted a 2-2 mark last week, knocking off Georgia Southern in Oxford and Towson at the Gildan Charleston Classic.
Coach Andy Kennedy squad saw major strides from sophomore Marcanvis Hymon who set new career highs with 20 points and nine boards in his first career start against Towson. He hit 10 of 11 attempts from the field against the Tigers.
Ole Miss’ senior Stefan Moody set a career-high with 30 points in the Rebels’ win over Towson and ranks second in the SEC in scoring at 22.4 ppg this year.
Georgia State Panthers are coming into Oxford with a 2-0 record on the season. The Panthers return just one starter – Markus Crider – off last’s year team that posted a 25-10 mark. A pair of D-1 transfers Jeremy Hollowell (Indiana) and Kevin Ware (Louisville) lead Georgia State this season. Hollowell leads the Panthers in scoring this year at 18.5 ppg, while Ware is second in the team in scoring (16.5 pgg) and rebounding (5.5 rpg).
Coach Ron Hunter’s squad advanced in the NCAA Tournament last season after knocking off No. 3-seed Baylor in the second round, before falling to Xavier in the round of 32.
When the game gets tipped off it will be the first-ever meeting on the hardwood between the Panthers and the Rebels.
Fans who will be traveling for Thanksgiving can watch the game at 4 p.m. on SEC Network or listen to the Ole Miss Radio Network 105.1 and Sirius / XM radio on channels 145 and 190 respectively.
