Oxford Intermediate School Opens Parking Lot for Game Day Fundraiser
The Oxford Intermediate School will provide parking for Ole Miss and LSU game tomorrow. Parking will be at the school’s parking lot located on the corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Washington Avenue.
The OIS Renaissance committee is raising money to promote student achievement and to motivate teachers and students. There are 10 teachers and one administrator that make up the committee. Carol Trott, committee chair and OIS music teacher, is excited to help fund raise for OIS.
“The OIS Renaissance has already done quiet a few things this year including welcome packs for new teachers, student of the month awards and t-shirts, honor roll recognitions, treats for our school bus drivers and cafeteria workers and “HAT” parties to recognize classes that have all homework turned in, no absences and no tardies,” Trott said.
OIS has parked cars on their school’s parking lot throughout the 2015 Ole Miss football season. They hope to raise $1,500 tomorrow, to put forth their season goal of $10,000. The committee plans to make this an annual fundraiser.
“So far, we have raised about $5,000 for the season. We hope with better advertising next year, we can raise even more money for our students,” Trott said.
OIS committee members, plus additional teachers and administrators, will start parking cars at 9 a.m. tomorrow. The lot is only a short walk to the Ole Miss Grove and the Vaught Hemingway stadium and your money spent on parking will be put to a great purpose.
