Ole Miss Linebacker Denzel Nkemdiche Hospitalized
UPDATE: Statement from Beverly & Sunday Nkemdiche and Coach Hugh Freeze:
“Denzel’s condition has improved as of today, and he will remain in the hospital. His wellbeing is all that matters right now, and we are making sure he receives the highest level of medical care. While his condition is not life-threatening, he will not play this weekend. We thank the Ole Miss family for their concern and encouragement, and we appreciate everyone respecting the family’s privacy during this time.”
Ole Miss’ senior starting linebacker Denzel Nkemdiche has been taken to the intensive care unit at a hospital in north Mississippi on Monday, according to sources reported by RebelGrove.com.
The reason for his hospitalization was not officially stated.
Wednesday, head coach Hugh Freeze said Denzel Nkemdiche’s status for the LSU game this Saturday was “questionable” during the Q&A session post-practice. Nkemdiche was reportedly not at the practice.
Freeze said in a Q&A session after practice, “Denzel is questionable. He’s dealing with a personal matter that he and his family are kind of going through, and we’re going to walk through it with him.”
