Mississippi Glory Selects Oxford Lafayette Sportsplex

Screen Shot 2015-10-20 at 11.47.00 AMThe Oxford Lafayette Sportsplex continues to unite the most competitive athletes in north Mississippi by adding the prestigious Glory softball program to its facility. The Mississippi Glory softball program was founded by Carie Dever Boaz. Coach Boaz played at Fresno State and was a three-time All-American. She coached in the SEC at South Carolina, Arkansas, and Florida and was SEC coach of the year in 1999. Coach Boaz also coached National Pro Fastpitch for the Washington Glory where she was Manager of the year in 2007.

Screen Shot 2015-10-20 at 11.51.59 AMAfter being recruited by and playing for Coach Boaz at the University of Arkansas, Brett Prosek, stayed on to become an assistant coach at the University of Arkansas. Prosek coached at the University of Arkansas as well as the University of Kentucky. She was also head coach at Marian University. After moving to Mississippi in 2013, Prosek became Director of the Mississippi Glory organization in 2014. Together Boaz and Prosek have built one of the strongest softball programs in the State of Mississippi and the Southeast.

Screen Shot 2015-10-20 at 11.55.42 AMCurrently, 9 Mississippi Glory players are on college softball scholarships at both junior college and 4 year colleges. “We were excited to find a place like the Oxford Lafayette Sportsplex,” said Prosek. “Last year, they had 11 players get college scholarships in soccer and the level of competition at the Sportsplex is consistent with our goals for the Glory organization.” One of the goals of the Oxford Lafayette Sportsplex is to provide a competitive alternative to the park and rec programs in north Mississippi. By adding competitive softball to the complex the Oxford Lafayette Sportsplex expects to increase the total number of scholarships for athletes in north Mississippi in the near future.
