Oxford Crime Report for Tuesday, October 6
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: seven suspicious activities, four alarms, four disturbances, three ambulance assists, three careless drivers, two malicious mischief, two welfare concerns, a recovered property, a public intoxication and a shoplifting.
Oxford police investigated three wrecks, issued 14 traffic citations and made five arrests on the following charges:
Shoplifting
Speeding and DUI
Careless driving and DUI
Speeding, careless driving, possession of more than 30 grams of marijuana and DUI
Failure to dim headlights, possession of drug paraphernalia, suspended driver’s license and DUI
University police responded to the following incidents: two vehicle stops, emergency medical services for an intoxicated person at Martin Hall, willful trespassing at Campus Walk Apartments, a simple assault at Sigma Pi house, a vandalism at Alpha Omicron Pi house, and an accidental hit and run at Tad Smith Coliseum.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
Dumpster fire at 1:08 a.m. at the City Car Park (lot behind the Federal building)
Heat detector malfunction at 4:34 a.m. in the basement mechanical equipment room at Kincannon Hall
