‘Genius Trivia’ to Benefit Lafayette County Literacy Council Tonight

The Lafayette County Literacy Council will host Genius Trivia at 7 p.m. tonight at the Blind Pig on the Square in Oxford.
Funds raised will benefit the Children’s Book Festival program, which helps turn local first-graders into lifelong readers by bringing a book to life for them. ” This program is our oldest and most fun, and it comes at that critical stage when kids are learning how to read,” said Meridith Wulff, Executive Director of the Lafayette County Literacy Council.
“We partner with the schools to provide a free book and a week of activities to every first-grader in the community — nearly 700 of them! — and it all culminates when they hear the best-selling author speak at The Ford Center as part of the Oxford Conference for the Book.”
Genius Trivia night will feature prizes, mulligans and a literature-themed Genius Round. “If you’ve ever played trivia before, you know how fun it can be,” Wulff said. “Our host, Ramona Wanlass, is one of Oxford’s original trivia gurus and she runs an awesome trivia night!”
Participants can compete solo or in teams of up to six players. The cost is $10 per person to play, and all proceeds will benefit the Lafayette County Literacy Council. Prizes will include six tickets to see the PRIZM Ensemble at the Ford Center, gift certificates to Holli’s Sweet Tooth and more.
The public is welcome and encouraged to come out and support the program.
