The Oxford Film Festival is excited to announce that they are the recipient of a 2015 Lafayette Oxford Foundation for Tomorrow Grant.

The funds received will go towards the purchase of a new camera for the OxFilm Society program that seeks to enhance the creative economy in Lafayette County.

Oxford Film Festival received $1,250 towards the purchase of a new film camera during the LOFT awards ceremony at the Powerhouse Community Arts Center on September 17.

“The current Canon camera available for rent to the community has been popular and a second camera will help us build visual story telling in our community,” Melanie Addington, Executive Director of Oxford Film Festival, said. “We thank LOFT for their generous support to the creative economy.”

OxFilm is a community-wide effort to enhance film as a cultural, artistic and economic driver for the Lafayette County-Oxford and University population. OxFilm seeks to promote education and provide tools to support local filmmakers while encouraging films to be made in our community. Members receive discounted rentals of audio-visual equipment and workshops are also provided.

The Oxford Film Festival was founded in 2003 to bring exciting, new and unusual films (and the people who create them) to North Mississippi. The annual four-day festival screens short and feature-length films in both showcase and competition settings, including narrative and documentary features and shorts; Mississippi narratives, documentaries and music videos, and narrative, documentary, animated and experimental shorts. The festival is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization. To learn more, visit www.oxfordfilmfest.com.
