Third Time’s a Charm for Packers’ Myles White
For former Northwest Mississippi Community College wide receiver Myles White, his third preseason camp with the Green Bay Packers was the charm as his name was included on the official 53-man roster released on Saturday.
White caught 16 passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns this preseason, highlighted by one SportsCenter-worthy catch against the Philadelphia Eagles on Aug. 29.
The Livonia, Mich., native was signed by the Packers as a non-drafted free agent on May 10, 2013, playing in seven games as a rookie and catching nine passes for 66 yards. He spent the entire 2014 season on the practice squad.
White played the 2011-12 seasons at Louisiana Tech, totaling 86 receptions for 1,132 yards and nine touchdowns and earning second team All-Western Athletic Conference honors as a senior.
As a redshirt sophomore at Northwest in 2010, White started all 10 games and led the team with 53 receptions for 712 yards and six touchdowns. He ranked sixth nationally in receptions and 19th in receiving yards and went on to earn first team All-MACJC and NJCAA All-Region 23 honors.
Forty former Rangers have spent time in the National Football League. Most recently, White (Packers, 2013-15), offensive tackle Donald Hawkins (Cowboys-Dolphins, 2014-15), running back Daniel Thomas (Dolphins-Bears, 2011-15) and running back Eldra Buckley (Lions, 2011).
