Oyster and Seafood Restaurant Joining Oxford’s List of Culinary Treats

Restaurants opening in Oxford topped the charts as the fastest growing segment of the Oxford economy in recent weeks.

The opening of the fall session at Ole Miss expected to have registered nearly 4,000 new students, and it seemed to be the trigger that launched a culinary explosion of places to eat.

Salsarita’s Fresh Cantina, located on one end of the new strip mall on West Jackson Avenue,  seemed to open just in time to cater to hungry students .The location once was home to Rebel Chevrolet, Grisanti Motors and most recently Cannon Motors.

Mesquite Chop House opened on the Square next to the Federal Court Building, while the Second Line, both well-regarded Memphis restaurants, opened on the Square in the location formerly held by La Paz, 208 and Smitty’s.

Now, Oyster and Seafood appears poised to open in the strip center on West Jackson Avenue just up from Rice and Spice restaurant.

HottyToddy.com discovered Oyster and Seafood as the sign went up and an electrical contractor tweaked the lighting last week.

Despite repeated efforts to contact the owner, said to be the owner of Toyo Sushi & Hibachi Grill in the Galleria Shopping Center, HottyToddy.com was only able to take photos, which reveal a restaurant ready to start cooking any day.

Presumably, Oyster and Seafood is a seafood place.

The owner of the restaurant is said to also own Toyo Sushi & Hibachi Grill. HottyToddy.com was unable to contact the owner for an exclusive interview.

The restaurant will seat perhaps 40-50 people and will have a large oyster or beverage bar.

But exactly when Oyster and Seafood will open, the specific details of the menu and the name of the owner remains a mystery.

What’s the name of the shopping center Toyo Sushi and Habachi Grill is in? Could it be Galleria? Seems Jim wrote this story when he was half asleep.
