Oxford Crime Report: Friday – Sunday, August 21 – 23
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: 11 suspicious activities, 10 disturbances, seven alarms, six improper parking, six welfare concerns, six careless driving, six petit larcenies, six noise violations, three harassments, three recovered properties, three malicious mischief, two fire department assists, two simple assaults, two motorist assists, two lost properties, two 911 hang up calls, two civil matters, two burglaries at University Trails and Lexington Pointe, a littering, an identity theft, a trespassing and a credit card fraud.
Oxford police investigated 22 wrecks, issued 78 traffic citations and made 51 arrests on the following charges:
- (11) Public intoxication
- (8) Consumption of of alcohol on city streets
- (7) Minors in possession of alcohol
- (6) Possessions of drug paraphernalia
- (5) Warrants served
- (2) Carless driving and DUI
- DUI
- Vagrancy
- Noise violation and DUI
- Reckless driving and DUI
- Wrong way on an one-way and DUI
- Domestic violence – simple assault
- Public intoxication and possession of fake ID
- Possession of less than 30 grams of marijuana
- Speeding and possession of drug paraphernalia
- No driver’s license, no car insurance nor wearing a seatbelt
- Public intoxication and consumption of alcohol on city streets
- Speeding, no insurance, a suspended driver’s license and warrant served
University police responded to the following incidents: 17 vehicle stops, a trespassing at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, a fake ID on West Road, an intoxication person in Martin Hall, a suspicious vehicle at Blackburn-McMurray Complex, a possession of drug paraphernalia at Kincannon Hall, an auto burglary at Stockard Hall, and a vehicle wreck at Stockard Hall.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following incidents:

August 21
- A report of vehicle fire at 10:44 a.m. with discovery the dust from gravel was mistaken as fire damage at South Lamar at Hooper Hollow

August 22
- A smoke detector activated at 3:44 p.m. by a vaporizer pen at 906 Muirfield
- A prank pull at 11:43 p.m. at The Hub Building No. 1 breezeway

August 23
- A wreck with entrapment at 10:16 a.m. at Cash Saver parking lot
- A smoke detector activated at 12:47 p.m. by hairspray at Phi Mu house
- Two smoke detector malfunctions at 2:35 p.m. and 2:54 p.m. at Phi Mu house
