Oxford Crime Report: Thursday, August 20
Oxford police officers responded to a report of an armed man in a car on the Square last night.
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: six alarms, four suspicious activities, four malicious mischiefs, four disturbances, four improper parking, two civil matters, a petit larceny, an animal complaint, an ambulance assist, a petit larceny, a lost property, a welfare concern, a careless driving, a scam, a harassment and a shoplifting.
Oxford police investigated seven wrecks, issued 39 traffic citations and made 41 arrests on the following charges:

- (4) Noise violations
- (2) Careless driving and possession of drug paraphernalia
- (2) Shoplifting
- (2) Minor in possession of alcohol with a fake ID

- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Leaving the scene of accident with no car insurance and a DUI
- Careless driving and DUI
- Alcohol consumption on a city street, disorderly conduct and public intoxication
- Domestic violence, public intoxication, possession of schedule III narcotics, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and malicious mischief
University police investigated two vehicle stops, a possession of drug paraphernalia at Campus Walk, a possession of alcohol at Stockard Hall, an intoxicated driver on campus, and a vehicle accident at Blackburn-McMurray Complex.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls: a smoking air conditioner unit at 2:28 a.m. due to freezing at 2400 Andersson Road, a caller reporting a gas smell over a few days at 6:19 p.m. with discovery of iron that had been left on in the bathroom at 458 Olive Branch Way and a fire alarm at 1:27 a.m. this Friday morning due to the plastic cover being peeled off the pull station at the Kappa Sigma house.
