Breaking on Through: Meet the Rebels Event Wraps Up
It was a busy weekend in Oxford and all signs have finally proven that we no longer have to wait too long well two Saturdays to be exact for football.
While on campus new and old Rebels were moving back in the players and coaches took a break from fall camp to meet and greet with the largest crowd ever of 6,000 Rebel faithful this past Saturday at the Manning Center. The football team was also joined with student-athletes from other sports along with the spirit squads to greet fans with photo ops and autographs.
I always enjoy being a spectator at these events because it creates a way for fans and the team to motivate one another for the season to begin. Of course the popular question I always asked at these sort of gathers is “How are the Rebels going to be this season?” For those of my readers who read my pre-season analysis each year know that I am not one to lay out all the cards on the table or promise a winning formula for these guys. What I will say if the spirit and the look of these players and coaches stay the way we are going to have a magic season .
I say this because a winning team has to always find a way no matter through victories and adversity. It wont be easy for the Rebels or any team in a conference like the SEC to just mosey on through. However what will make the Rebels a force is that inner spirit to drive them to be a powerhouse on the gridiron. You have to have a strong mental game before you can show a strong physical game.
It is always good to see such a spirit in the Rebels before the season and I truly believe that seeing fans old and young come together to stand behind the boys can go along way. I hope that no matter what this season will bring for our boys that we will continue to support and send positive energy each game like we have done each year at Meet the Rebels.
We want to see all the Rebels who made it out to the 2015 Meet the Rebels so send us your fan snaps to hottytoddyphotos@gmail.com so they can appear in our Rebel Spirit Album.
Its great to be back Rebels. Stay tune for my Keys to the Game and Taste of the Game for the home opener Saturday, Sept.5th vs UT-Martin. Don’t forget to wear white y’all. Hotty Toddy.
