Vassallo: What Americans Are Truly Concerned About

With all the media nonstop buzz over the “Donald,” it’s amazing to me that the career politicians and news media still don’t get it. The American people are “fed up”and want drastic changes in Washington. Here’s what my ear to the ground is hearing.

To begin with the national debt has got to be controlled soon. A continuation of this carefree spending will ultimately lead to not being able to defend ourselves against both foreign and domestic threats. Healthcare reform is an issue that no one has yet found a solution. Protecting and securing our borders. How long will this continue? Telling nations like Iran how the cow ate the cabbage instead of accepting a nuclear deal harmful to Israel and the US and its other allies.

Other issues on most of our minds include domestic crime; giveaway programs; tax reform; and last but not least, term LIMITS. Part of our problem in DC is that we have created an unending daycare program for career politicians. Two terms and let them return to the private sector where they can better understand a family’s economics.

It’s unfortunate that Donald Trump is one of the only candidates discussing the real issues that impact our day to day lives. Maybe Senator Graham and others will learn something in two weeks when the first Republican debate occurs and he will be watching from home with the rest of us.
