Funky’s Adoptive Pet of the Month: Bernstein, the Amber Cat
There is a brown tabby in the PetsMart, patiently waiting to be taken home again.
His name is Bernstein, German for amber, a suitable name for his brown ticked tabby coat. His adoption fee is the cheapest there: $20.
Natasha Techen, president of 9 Lives Cat Rescue, said, “His owner passed away unexpectedly, and he had to find a new home after. He’s older than most here, but senior cats have defined personalities. He’s calm, and very healthy.”
The volunteer-run, no-kill animal rescue organization look after the surrendered cats and the strays in Lafayette County. With them, Bernstein will be cared for until he finds another forever home.
The eight-year-old cat climbs as easily as a two year old cat. Bernstein meows softly and walks with a purpose. The first thing he asks for is the petting. He purrs loudly when he gets them. His bio states, “When I am scratched behind my ears I am in heaven.”
His last day at the PetsMart is this Friday, but he will return soon.
Techen said, “He will be out for two weeks in the foster care but he’ll be back.”
