MDOT Kicks Off First Human Trafficking Training in Mississippi

This morning MDOT is holding a press conference in coordination with the Mississippi Office of Homeland Security to kick off the state’s first training for enforcement officers to help fight human trafficking at the recommendation of the Governor’s Task Force on Human Trafficking in Mississippi.

Research is currently underway regarding human trafficking prevention, interdiction and victim support. Training and educational information for human services and enforcement personnel across the state are also being developed to help combat this issue. The MDOT’s press conference will take place prior to the state’s first training and will feature representatives from multiple state agencies.

Leading this press conference are the national search director for the KlassKIDS Foundation and the founder of Called2Rescue Brad Dennis, Central Transportation commissioner Dick Hall and MDOT executive director Melinda McGrath along with Mississippi office of Homeland Security executive director Rusty Barnes and the Center for Violence Prevention executive director Sandy Middleton.

The press conference is held 9:00 a.m. at the Commission Auditorium on the first floor of the MDOT Administration Building located at 401 North West Street in Jackson.
