Tunsil Arrested for Defending his Mother
Ole Miss All-American left tackle Laremy Tunsil turned himself into the authorities and was arrested for a misdemeanor of domestic violence per simple assault.
Tunsil was protecting his mother against his stepfather, according to Coach Hugh Freeze. This incident occurred at Desiree Tunsil’s, his mother, house last Thursday evening as he allegedly struck Lindsey Miller in Lake City, Florida, where the 6-foot-5 junior is from.
On Saturday, Coach Hugh Freeze released a statement confirming that Tunsil had been arrested.
“We can confirm that Laremy Tunsil turned himself in and was arrested for a misdemeanor, domestic violence-simple assault,” Freeze said in a statement. “The incident occurred Thursday night and involves Laremy defending his mother against his stepfather. Laremy realizes he could have handled it differently, but I am proud of him for standing up for his mother and protecting his family.”
“Laremy and his mother have pressed charges against Miller,” Freeze said.
This season, Tunsil looks to be a preseason All-American selection. As Tunsil returns for his junior season after recovering from a broken leg last season. Tunsil is excepted to go as high as the fourth overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft according to ESPN’s Todd McShay.
