Two Tobacco Companies to Pay $15M settlement with State

Two tobacco companies will have to pay a $15 million dollar settlement with the state of Mississippi, per Attorney General Jim Hood.
On Monday, Hood announced a settlement of the state’s claims against R.J Reynolds Tobacco Company and Brown and Williamson Tobacco Corporation.
According to published reports, Hood’s office says the companies failed to pay the state for each cigarette made and shipped to Mississippi, which is a requirement under the 1997 tobacco settlement agreement.
The lawsuit did not cost the state.
