Oxford Crime Report: Friday – Sunday, June 5 – 7
Marquavious Brown- Strong Arm Robbery
On Thursday, June 4, the Oxford police department arrested Marquavious Brown, 20 of Oxford, for Strong Arm Robbery. The police department received a call about Brown entering a home and then stealing a wallet from the residence. He removed the money and left the wallet. The homeowner was present but could not stop Brown. We were able to locate Brown walking near University Avenue. When he saw us a foot chased ensued and Brown was caught. He was arrested for Robbery and his bond set at $10,000.
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: 14 alarms, nine disturbances, nine suspicious activities, five lost properties, five noise violations, five petit larcenies, four welfare concerns, two simple assaults, two burglaries on Sisk Avenue, two 911 hang up calls, two motorist assists, two civil matters, two improper parking, an ambulance assist, an animal complaint, a fire department assist, a trespassing, a harassing phone call, an embezzlement, and a careless driver.
Oxford police investigated 20 wrecks, issued 70 traffic citations and made 11 arrests on the following charges: (2) public intoxications; (2) no driver’s license nor car insurance but with DUI; a possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle and a possession of schedule IV narcotics along with a warrant served; no driver’s license nor car insurance nor seatbelt; a failure to yield to emergency vehicle and reckless driving; a careless driving with following too close and a DUI; a careless driving with no driver’s license and DUI; a careless driving and DUI; and a speeding with one headlight, a possession of drug paraphernalia with DUI.
University police responded to the following incidents: three vehicle stops, a moving violation per speeding and a DUI on Hathorn Road, a bicycle larceny at Faser Hall, a bicycle larceny at Martindale Hall, a vandalism at Martindale Hall, and a harassing email at Faser Hall.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:a second floor smoke detector malfunction at 5:23 a.m. in Kappa Sigma house on June 5, a prank pull at 3:34 p.m. at Holman Hall on June 5, an accidental bump on the fire alarm pull station at 8:13 p.m. at Lamar Lounge on June 5, a cancelled call at 7:15 a.m. at Baptist Memorial Hospital on June 6, and a fire alarm pull station hit by the workers at 10:43 a.m. at Baptist Memorial Hospital on June 7.
