The Exchange Club Family Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse of North Mississippi, Inc., has set June 12 for its second annual Golf and Crawfish Bash at the Oxford Country Club.
The fundraiser will benefit the Exchange Club Family Center’s ability to provide services and celebrate the community. The Exchange Club has a mission to “break the cycle of child abuse and neglect through prevention, intervention and educational services.”Exchange Club’s executive Fred Johnson says that his agency believes that most parents want to be good parents. The organization meets high-risk families to help them relearn healthy family dynamics as well as organizing support groups for parents, parenting classes and counseling.
Exchange Club executive Fred Johnson said his agency believes most parents want to be good parents. The organization meets high-risk families to help them relearn healthy family dynamics as well as organizing support groups for parents, parenting classes and counseling.
It has several programs such as the Adolescent Opportunity Program to provide services to teens involved in the youth court system. There is the To Love a Child program (TLC) that helps first-time teen mothers stay on track to graduate from high school and care for her children, too. The club has a bear mascot named Stan after its program Stop the Child Abuse (STAN) that visits schools to teach children to learn how to get away from abuse and find help.
The organization will benefit from the fundraiser, but its goal is to spread more awareness about child abuse in North Mississippi.
Entry fee is $500 for a four-man team with tee time at 1 p.m. The fee will include all-you-can-eat crawfish to enjoy from the Rebel Boilers. Johnson said that the crawfish company donates to the center so if businesses purchase crawfish tickets to the tournament or even sponsoring a crawfish day at work the profits will also go to the Exchange Club.
These crawfish tickets are $20 and crawfish will be served from 2 to 6 p.m. There are sponsor packages available from the Eagle package for $1,000 including a banner at the clubhouse to Par Package for $100.
There will be also a silent auction.
