Junior Ole Miss women’s basketball player Gracie Frizzell has decided to forgo her fifth year of eligibility to enter physical therapy school at the University of Arkansas next fall.

Frizzell, who earned a fifth year after tearing her ACL during her freshman year, will conclude her Ole Miss career at No. 4 on the all-time 3-point field goal list with 165 career triples. She leaves Ole Miss with 631 career points and holds the Ole Miss single-game and Tad Smith Coliseum records for three-point field goals in a single game with eight triples against Alabama in 2014-15.

“I am very grateful for the leadership that Gracie provided our program over the last two seasons,” said head coach Matt Insell. “After a lengthy process on deciding whether to play her fifth year of basketball, or to go ahead and start her career by enrolling in physical therapy school, Gracie has decided it’s time to start her next chapter in life and forgo her final season. Our program is thankful for the past two seasons with her and wish her the very best as she moves forward.”

“As a young girl, my dream was to play basketball in the SEC,” said Frizzell. “When I visited Ole Miss I saw something no other school had to offer, I saw it’s potential for me both academically and athletically and I saw the love that Rebel Nation had for its student-athletes. Ole Miss is a spirit and has taught me the value of life and how to enjoy opportunities that present themselves. I am thankful for my experiences, coaches, teammates and the athletic support staff that have given me an incredible opportunity. I appreciate the support from everyone as I begin pursuing my dream of becoming a Doctor of Physical Therapy. The saying is ‘once a Rebel, always a Rebel’ and I’ll always bleed red and blue!”
