University Students Protest Police Brutality against Black People
University of Mississippi students gathered around the Confederate Statue in the Courthouse Square for a die-in protest against police brutality this afternoon.
This is not the first die-in protest by the university students this year. On April 8, Ole Miss students arranged a die-in protest in front of the Union. That protest was in reaction to the shooting death of Walter Scott of South Carolina, a father figure to Ole Miss defensive linesman Faldo Brown.
Last December, the university students laid down as a peaceful demonstration in the Ole Miss student union to express how they felt about racial tensions between law enforcement and people of color.
