Oxford Police Make Arrests in Investigation of Threats Against Oxford Middle School
The Oxford Police Department announced they have made arrests during the investigation of threats made against Oxford Middle School.
This past Tuesday investigators responded to a report from Oxford Middle School’s resource officer: there was a verbal threat made against the school, students and staff by an Oxford Middle School student.
Yesterday the Youth Court judge signed an order of detention for the crime of conspiracy to commit murder. That same day two juveniles were picked up from their homes and transported to Alcorn County Juvenile Detention Center in Corinth, Mississippi. They will be held there until their Youth Court hearing on Tuesday, April 21.
Oxford police department has not released certain information on these juveniles because it is against the law.
The department said in a statement: “The Oxford police department takes the safety of our schools and children very seriously. We will make every effort to pursue and validate any similar reports and in turn prosecute decided offenders to full extent of the law.”
The department also asks to report any concerns and suspicious activity to the Oxford School District’s resources officers or call the OPD at 662-232-2400.
