Local Handywoman Termisha Toles Crafts Affordable Jewels

Termisha Toles isn’t your ordinary 21 year old from Taylor. Since the age of 11, she’s sold her hand-crafted jewels to people all over the city of Oxford — sometimes even selling the jewelry off her back.

“I have caught myself being in Walmart or church, and people would ask me about the jewelry I’m wearing, which happens to be my handmade jewelry, and I’ve sold pieces off me,” Toles said.

Toles likes to shop at Hobby Lobby and Walmart for her supplies. Her plans are to keep her jewelry sets affordable to the public but still give them something tasteful.

“I get beads and other chic supplies for an inexpensive price and let my hands do the work,” Termisha said. “It’s a gift and I hope it pays off.” She has bracelets, necklaces, earrings and anklets for sale all ranging from $6 to $15.

“For now, I just sell jewelry and it’s called Jewelz by Misha,” Toles said.  “I’ve been making jewelry for a while now, since I was probably like 11 or 12 years old. I’ve been putting together beads and different colored jewelry in hopes that people will buy my work.”

Toles is self taught when it comes to making jewelry.  She said, “I was born with a gift and put it into action one day. That’s when I knew I wanted to have my own jewelry business, when I made my first necklace.”

“I plan on making jewelry and coming up with a business,” Toles said. “The reason I want to sell my jewelry is to help places like St. Jude and different places like that.  I want to raise money to help them all if I can. It’s something I love to do. It’s a hobby and I hope to be able to give my gift back to society, maybe make it a non-profit organization type thing. In the meantime, I sell to churches and have different yard sales.”

Toles also knits purses and scarves during the winter season.  She dabbles in paint and drawing as well. Toles considers herself a seasonal artist and will be happy to attempt anything thrown her way. She is quite the entrepreneur.
