Kara Lanteigne, who spent the past season as the volunteer assistant for the Ole Miss volleyball team, joins the program full time as the director of operations, head coach Steven McRoberts announced Tuesday.
“Kara is a great full-time addition to our staff,” McRoberts said. “She did a terrific job this past season working with us as the volunteer assistant. Kara is a hard worker and is someone who is very loyal and trustworthy. I am looking forward to her joining our program in this capacity as we strive for SEC Championships.”
Working with the team last fall, Lanteigne helped the Rebels achieve their best record since 2007 (22-10) and several individual and team school records.
Prior to coming to Ole Miss, Lanteigne lived in Jackonsville, Fla., where she spent five years coaching with the Jacksonville Juniors Volleyball Association. In 2013 Lanteigne served as the head coach of the 18-National Team and led them to the regional championship match while also qualifying for nationals. In 2014 Lanteigne was the head coach of the 17-National Team and also served as the assistant varsity coach and head JV coach at St. Augustine High School.
Lanteigne played for the University of West Florida, where she helped lead her team to four straight NCAA Tournament appearances. In 2010, Lanteigne was selected to the Preseason All-GSC First Team, All-GSC First Team, and GSC Tournament First Team. She ended her career as the all-time leader in blocks (306 total blocks) and among the top 10 in games played, kills, total attacks, hitting percentage and service aces.
A native of St. Augustine, Fla., Lanteigne played at St. Augustine High School as well as for the Jacksonville Juniors Volleyball Association.
Lanteigne earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from the University of West Florida in 2011. She and her husband, Austin, live in Oxford with their dog, Goose.
