The Ole Miss baseball team returns to the diamond of Swayze Field Wednesday afternoon as they host Arkansas Pine Bluff. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
Ole Miss (10-9) is coming into this one-game mid-week contest after dropping the weekend series against LSU, winning only Saturday’s game.
Senior Sikes Orvis tied the game with an RBI base knock in the top of the ninth inning, then gave Ole Miss a lead it wouldn’t relinquish with an opposite-field RBI double to score J.B. Woodman from first base.
Arkansas Pine-Bluff is 6-8 this season after splitting a pair with Southern University over the weekend. The Golden Lions will face LeMoyne-Owen College in Memphis on Tuesday before venturing south to Oxford for the matchup against the Rebels.
The Golden Loins are led at the plate by junior Andrew Davis, hitting a team-best .333 while boasting a 1.69 ERA as a 6-6 southpaw pitcher. Davis also leads the club in every statistical category at the plate.
Coach Mike Bianco is going to give the ball to Evan Anderson as the Rebel starter, while UAPB has not announced who they are going to have as their hurler for the game.
Among common opponents for UAPB and Ole Miss this season is Mississippi State, and the Golden Loins got the best by a score of 1-0.
Ole Miss and Arkansas Pine Bluff have faced off four times coming into Wednesday’s game, with the Rebels winning all four. Last season, Ole Miss won by the score of 11-1 over UAPB.
For fans that are unable to make it out to Swayze for the game can watch it on SECNetwork+ or listen to it on the Ole Miss Radio Network.
Ole Miss will step back into conference play this weekend as they host the Florida Gators at Swayze Field.
