Oxford Crime Report: Tuesday, March 10

Oxford police department is currently investigating the burglary of G&M Pharmacy. Police officers responded to a burglary call at 7:47 a.m. yesterday. Upon arrival officers then learned that a suspect or suspects disabled the building’s electricity and then used a rear window to enter the building. An amount of pharmaceuticals were stolen. Investigators are asking anyone with knowledge of this crime or similar crimes in Oxford or Lafayette County to call the Oxford police department at 662-232-2400 or to CrimeStoppers at 662-234-8477.

Christopher Rayburn – Felony Shoplifting

On March 6, 2015, the Oxford police department received a call from Wal-Mart Loss Prevention alerting them that an individual identified for shoplifting on February 23, 2015, was back in the store on March 6, 2015. Upon officers’ arrival the individual was identified as Christopher Rayburn, 34 years of age from Mooreville, Mississippi. Rayburn was charged by Loss Prevention for Felony Shoplifting and transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center. Rayburn’s bond was set at $20,000.

Oxford police responded to the following incidents: nine alarms, four disturbances, three suspicious activities, three suspicious persons, a suspicious vehicle, an open door, a welfare concern, a shoplifting, an improper parking, a public drunk, a false pretense, and a misdialed 911 call.

Oxford police investigated two wrecks, issued 28 traffic citations and made six arrests on the following charges: (2) possession of drug paraphernalia, an expired tag with a suspended driver’s license; an expired tag with a suspended driver’s license and no car insurance; a shoplifting with resisting arrest; and a shoplifting.

University police responded to the following incident: a report of sexual battery.

Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls: a wreck with entrapment on Highway 7 North; a duct detector malfunction on first floor mechanical room at Starnes Center; a cancelled call at 300 Shadow Creek Drive; a smoke detector malfunction at 1815 East Jackson Avenue; and a cancelled call at 123 L’Acadian Drive.
