Temperatures for today’s game may have sunk into the 20s, but the Ole Miss bats were red hot as the Rebels (3-1) pulled out a 10-3 victory over Wright State (3-1).

Sikes Orvis led the way with a big 2-4 day to rebound from a rough opening weekend. Orvis drove in runs in his final four at-bats with a sacrifice fly, single up the middle, a two-run home run to right, and when he reached on an error in the eighth. It was a big day for the All-American first baseman as he finished with four RBI and gave the Rebels their second homer on the young season.

Colby Bortles and Kyle Watson continued their hot-hitting with two hits and two RBI apiece. Henri Lartigue also added an RBI triple as he moved up to the three-spot in the order.

Christian Trent (2-0) shrugged off a shaky start to turn in another solid performance. He went six innings, allowing five hits, one run, one walk with a career-high nine strikeouts. Evan Anderson pitched two innings, allowing two runs and striking out three. Freshman Will Stokes finished the game off with a scoreless ninth.

Wright State pitcher Robby Sexton (0-1) sent all nine Rebels down in order the first time through the lineup, but struggled to hit his spots afterward. Sexton finished with a line of: five innings, five hits, six runs, two earned, four walks and two strikeouts.

Seven different Raiders logged hits on the night. One of the few held hitless was outfielder Ryan Fucci who came into the game batting .500. Fucci was held to 0-4 on the night.

The Rebels will look to clinch the series tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 CT at Oxford-University Stadium.

Thank goodness for those bats. Glad to see Orvis doing his thing again. Our defense looks shaky. Pitching was on point though. Good series but we have to start sweeping these types of teams.
