99 Oxford School Fans Needed Right Now

About a dozen school systems in Mississippi have specialty car tags available for their fans, but Oxford is not one of them…yet.  The Oxford School District Foundation is coming down to the wire in a push to make an O-bolt license plate available to the state’s drivers.

“Specialty tags are such a fun, easy and sustainable way to support the district,” said Allyson Best, OSDF’s president-elect, “but we have to have 300 in hand before they will print that first O-bolt plate.  All we need from you right now is $31 and your current tag number, so please consider signing up for yours before April 15.”

Some Oxford VIPs are already on board, from the mayor to the school board, but without about 99 or so more fans of the Oxford district, the school system will lose out on two important things.

“First, $24 out of every $31 tag fee comes back to the district,” said OSDF board member Deb Wenger. “And maybe even more importantly, it’s a tangible way for parents and others to show how much the school system means to us.”

OSDF raises money to fund teacher grant requests.  If the group can pre-sell 300 tags at $31 each, $7,200 of that money will go back into the classroom to pay for innovative teaching tools.  In the past, teachers have been granted money for science learning kits, specialized math calculators, perma-bound books and robotics gear, among other items.

Once the group hits the target of 300 pre-sold tags, every time someone pays for an O-bolt tag, $24 will come back to the district.

“So, it’s a win-win for everyone,” said Camie Bianco, OSDF president.  “You get to show your support for Oxford schools on your car, plus you’re making a donation that will give our kids the potential to learn even more.”

If that’s not enough, anyone who signs up and pays for a tag before April 15 will be eligible for a chance to win Oxford School District license plate No. 1.  Drawings will also be held for a signed Ole Miss football and baseball, two tickets to an Ole Miss home baseball game and field passes for pre-game batting practice, as well as a bicycle donated by Regions Bank.
