Ole Miss legend Don Kessinger and his wife of Carolyn celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple, both of Forest City, Arkansas, have long been staples of the Oxford community. Before embarking on a 16-year Major League Baseball career, Don played shortstop at Ole Miss, earned All-America honors in both baseball and basketball.

He was a six-time all-star across stints for the Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago White Sox, the laast of which was time spent as a player-coach on the South Side. After his playing days were over, he was the head baseball coach at Ole Miss for six seasons and later became the Associate Athletics Director for Internal Affairs and the Chair of the NCAA Baseball Rules Committee. The couple’s two sons, Keith and Kevin, also played baseball at Ole Miss and professionally.

Currently, the Kessingers run a successful local business, Kessinger Real Estate, with offices in Oxford and Water Valley.
