UM Students Complete Public Relations Internships with OSD
MarKeicha Dickens recently completed her internship with the Oxford School District as a public relations intern. Her responsibilities included gathering general news information, event planning, and writing feature stories and content for the District website.
The Olive Branch native is currently a senior studying journalism at The University of Mississippi. Previously, Dickens interned with the DeSoto Times Tribune at the age of 16 and has been published in The Daily Mississippian. She has experience in writing, shooting video and photography. Upon graduation, she plans to pursue a career in public relations.
Payton Green recently completed her internship with the Oxford School District as the Oxford Chargers athletic sports information intern. Green’s responsibilities included producing the “Coaches’ Corner” weekly YouTube video, writing athletic feature stories and photographing athletic events. She also coordinates and writes the “Oxford Chargers Athlete of the Month” feature, a District website feature spotlighting a student athlete who displays excellence in the areas of academics, athletics and community service.
The Easton, Connecticut, native is a senior majoring in integrated marketing communications at The University of Mississippi and currently works as a recruiting assistant for the Ole Miss football team. She has interned for Trevin Communications in Connecticut and served as an assistant stylist for the RalphLauren.com photo shoots in New York City. She plans to pursue a career in sports marketing after graduation.
Dickens’ and Green’s internships are a requirement for their advanced public relations class at The University of Mississippi. Lecturer Robin Street, APR, is the class instructor.
