Ole Miss Hoops Travels to Dayton to Take on Flyers
The Ole Miss Rebel basketball team returns to action Tuesday night in Dayton, Ohio, as they take on the Dayton Flyers. Tip off is set for 7 p.m. and will be carried on the CBS Sports Network.
Ole Miss (8-3) comes into this contest after defeating Southeastern Missouri 82-51 in the Jack Jones Classic as senior Terence Smith led the Rebels with 16 points in the game, including knocking down three from behind the arc. Prior to the game against SEMO, Smith had only scored 21 points on the season. Teammate M.J. Rhett added 14 of his own to the total in the win.
Coach Andy Kennedy’s squad leads the nation in free throw percentage, hitting 78.3 percent of the time. The Rebels have hit 42 of their last 50 attempts from the line. Junior Stefan Moody is tied for the lead in the SEC and 10th in the nation, shooting 91.8 precent from the stripe.
Dayton (9-2) is off to a hot start this season after beating Georgia Tech 75-61. The Flyers have won 11-straight home games dating back to last season and are 6-0 this season. As a team they are only allowing 55.3 ppg to be scored.
The Flyers are led by senior Jordan Sibert with 15.3 ppg and scored a career high 24 points in his last outing against Georgia Tech.
This will be the sixth meeting on the hardwood between these two teams, with Dayton taking all of them. Last season, the Rebels almost defeated the Flyers but Dayton found a way to win 83-80 in overtime.
