Neumann: Freeze Won't Abandon Post for Florida Slot

I don’t think there is any way that Freeze leaves Ole Miss for Florida.
He is a Mississippian and he came here to do a job. AD Ross Bjork needs to sit down with Freeze ASAP and give him a new contract not just an extension. I think the Rebel Nation and myself for one understand what Freeze has done for the program, and Bjork has said previously the department is ready and willing to increase his salary.
I’m also certain that Archie feels the same way. I pray Archie is getting better and will pick up the phone and talk to Ross. I have great respect for Ross, and as a Rebel would also be concerned if he decided to leave.
It always looks better somewhere else, but for a dedicated man like Freeze, he came here to do a job and that job’s not over yet. Why would he go to Florida with tremendous pressure and leave the Rebels after a huge Egg Bowl win and one of their best seasons in history?
I don’t think money is the issue, but it’s up to Ross and the Ole Miss Rebel Nation to express the love and admiration to Freeze and his family and put all these rumors to rest. But the Rebel Nation must also give Ross the credit he deserves for putting all the sporting programs at Ole Miss back on the map.
We also need to get more ex ballplayers involved to help the Rebel Nation, like Michael Oher, Patrick Willis and Donte Moncrief. Ole Miss has graduated many great athletes, and now that we are up there with the big boys on the block, we can’t forget the ones who started things rolling.
On behalf of Rebel nation, I say to Freeze: You and your team have done a great job and made us all proud. I congratulate all the other coaches that I haven’t mentioned and know that with their leadership and guidance there is no way but up for Ole Miss athletics!

Johnny Neumann has been voted one of the top college basketball players of all time for his achievements during his brief tenure at Ole Miss. Neumann was a High School All-American at Overton High and brought his talents to Ole Miss in 1970. The statistics Neumann compiled over just ONE season at Ole Miss are proof of his greatness. Currently Neumann is an Ole Miss student again majoring in journalism. He spent many years in the NBA and ABA and as a coach. His goal is to enter sports broadcasting.
