Ole Miss’ Freeze Named Semifinalist for Collegiate Coach of the Year

In his third year at the helm, Freeze led the Rebels to a 7-0 start, the best since 1962 and only the second 7-0 record in program history. The current 8-2 record is the team’s best start since 2003.
The Rebels currently sit at No. 8 nationally as the highest-ranked two-loss team in the country. Ole Miss boasts a win over No. 1 Alabama while the two losses were by a combined seven points to SEC West foes LSU and Auburn.
Freeze inherited a team that went 2-10 and winless in SEC games in 2011 and has brought them to the national forefront in less than three years. He owns a 23-13 mark in Oxford and a career record of 53-20. His .639 winning percentage at Ole Miss is the best of any Rebel coach other than John Vaught (.745) in the last 100 years.
Under Freeze, Ole Miss has set numerous school records and the program has also seen attendance and ticket sales soar to new heights.
Freeze is one of 20 candidates for the award, which will be narrowed down to three finalists by Dec. 8. Duke coach David Cutcliffe was the 2013 winner of the award.
