Heather Cox – Exploitation of a Vulnerable Adult

On Monday, Nov. 10, the Oxford Police Department arrested Heather Cox, 38 years old of Clarksdale, Miss., for exploitation of a vulnerable adult. On Saturday, October 11, a victim reported that her elderly relative, whom she has guardianship over, was exploited by Heather Cox. The victim’s family advised Ms. Cox charged over $20,000 for lawn work that was done on the victim’s property for work that was not done. After all information was gathered and a total amount was figured the police then filed charges on Cox. She has been arrested and her bond is being held due to an MDOC hold. Ms. Cox is out on probation, but a bond may be issued later in the week if MDOC takes off its hold.
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: four alarms, three welfare concerns, three suspicious activities, two simple assaults, two noise complaints, two civil matters, two petit larcenies, harassing phone calls, a disturbance, a fire dept. assist, and a trespassing.
Oxford police investigated seven wrecks, issued some traffic citations, and made six arrests on the following charges: (2) disorderly conduct and public intoxication, a possession of drug paraphernalia with DUI, a public intoxication with minor in possession of alcohol and a fake ID, driving with no headlights or car insurance but with possession of drug paraphernalia and a DUI, a speeding with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Oxford police discovered no code enforcement violations.
University police responded to the following incidents: a service call for an ambulance at Hume Hall for two people, a service call for a suspicious person at University Circle, a harassment at Hill Drive, and a traffic detail assist at Chucky Mullins Drive.
Oxford Fire Dept. responded to the following calls: a spilled gas which the fire dept. then washed off at the Kangaroo Express on Belk Boulevard, a smoke detector malfunction at Northgate B206, a caller saw flames and the fire dept. discovered employees were burning off LP in some tanks at Suburban Propane, a hot water relief valve popped off which activated a detector at Lester Hall, and a general fire alarm activated by people moving things into the building at the Girls and Boys Club.
