SEC Power Rankings Week 11: Rebs Look to Win Out

Published

Screen Shot 2014-11-10 at 11.08.27 AMThe stage is now set as the top two teams face off in Tuscaloosa while Nos. 4 and 5 go at it in Athens.
Halloween night may have been a week late this year as Auburn and LSU found “a way to blow” games on their home fields that even Alfred Hitchcock could not have scripted. These two teams that recently defeated Ole Miss all but eliminated themselves from any further mentioning of the “final four” and elected the Rebels past each in major bowl considerations. Auburn could easily end up 8-4 as could LSU based upon their remaining schedule. Auburn has the road trip to Athens and also Tuscaloosa while LSU travels to Arkansas and College Station.
Ole Miss now sits in a comfortable position as the off week could not come at a more interesting and comfortable time.
Here’s one scenario to consider: A. Ole Miss defeats Arkansas and State going 10-2 B. State loses to Bama and here in Oxford also going 10-2 C. Auburn loses to Georgia, but upsets Bama going 9-3 D. Bama (as a result of the above) goes 10-2 Guess who wins the West and is back in the final four discussion? You guessed it!
This is why it was so important that Auburn and LSU lost on Nov. 8. The Rebs once again control their own destiny. This season has had so many ups and downs that it is hard to recall them all. However, coach Hugh Freeze has elevated the Rebels to a great setting and now “all eyes” must be on the LSU-Arkansas game this Saturday to see how it plays out!
Our friends at Auburn “found a way to lose” as did our buds down in Baton Rouge. Stay thirsty my friends as more “L’s” are on the horizon. And Hotty Toddy to you all!
